GeoAdvisory Board Status Update

Well, folks, the effort to create a Geo Advisory Council is at the gate! We had hoped for a final vote before the summer recess but just missed the mark. Senate Bill 771 went through the Senate and passed unanimously on third consideration, and has progressed through the first two considerations in the House, an unrelated amendment (failed), and a successful review in the House Appropriations Committee. It still requires a majority vote upon third consideration in the House and if successful there then just the Governor's signature. There is still a chance the bill will stay dormant without consideration through the end of the session in December; if that occurs the whole process starts over as if the bill had never been introduced.

At the present time we are ascertaining the chances it will be brought up for consideration and if we need to mobilize. Stay tuned!
